It was 4am...

It was 4am, 14^th Oct 2009. I was still awake. It was not because I had insomnia; not because I just finished played games; not also because I just played facebook; or not even because I just finished study. I suddenly had the urge to write this post because I just conducted a delivery after waiting for 5 hours.

My patient is a 19 years old Iban girl (similar to my sister’s age), currently in the 38^th week of her 1^st pregnancy. Antenatally uncomplicated and estimated fetal weight is about 3kg (not so big). When I 1^st saw her, I was very happy because her Os is 4cm already, which means I was able to deliver the baby soon. However, the patient kept complaining of lower abdominal and back pain. I was pity her so I asked the doctor whether can give her analgesia. The doctor agreed to give her NO₂+ O₂. But she became restless and tried to twist her body on the bed to relieve the pain and refused to take the analgesia. And because of that, the fetal heart tracing was very poor. So we were not sure the baby is ok or not. She even cried and hit the pillow (fortunately didn’t hit me la..:P) and refuse me to count the contractions.

Initially I thought she needed to be sent for Cesarean section and started to lose interest in waiting her. But fortunately she delivered the baby safely and I was able to fill my log book.

The story ended here but my points of view are:

1. The patient is young. She is only 19 years old. She can’t even tolerate the pain of labour. She kept asking me why is it so painful and why it takes so long time to deliver a baby. I can’t understand that if you are not well prepared to become a mother, then please don’t become. Every lady should know that labour is really really a very painful event. Therefore you should tolerate it but not throwing the tantrum. I am not saying that you can’t have sex before marriage or you can’t marriage if you are scared of pain. You can have sex but please use contraception if you are not well prepared for the most painful event. If you really wish to have a child, then I believe that the urge to have a child can cover your pain.

2. Deliver a baby is a very hard job for a doctor or nurses or a medical students. From the beginning until you clean the patient, equipment and bed, it really needs a lot of time and energy. I can frankly shout out that the most number of deliveries you can do in one day is 2-3. It is very tiring and I can ensure you that you can’t finished 5-6 deliveries in one day unless you use short cut.

Maybe there is a season/period for broken relationship. Some of my friends also has the same fate as me - become the prey of this season. One day, i read the one article in my friend's blog and found it is nice and meaningful. Here I am to translate it into English version and share with you..(If wrong please don't blame me..Haha..):P

Don't simply hold someone's hand; Don't even let go someone's hand..

Do you realise that the beginning of love is sweet? You will not feel lonely as there is always "a person" accompany you, think of you, loving you, and share the problem with you. Everything is complete when both of you together.

But slowly, gradually, with the increase of understanding, you will start discover the bad thing on your partner. Conflicts and problems will come out one by one and you start to feel bored, tired or even want to flea.

There is a saying that love is like picking the stone. Everyone is trying to pick the most suitable one for himself, but how do you sure or know when can you found the most suitable one? Even if you found one who is the most suitable for you, but are you the most suitable one in her eyes?

Actually, the love should be represented by polishing a stone. Maybe you are not very satisfy at the time you picked the stone. But please remember that, human is very dynamic, there are many things can be changed. If you have faith and courage, one day a stone even can become a diamond. Would you rather go and pick the stone randomly which you are not sure, than stay and start to polish the stone which you already possessed?

There is no continuous happiness. If not, the life will be very boring.

Life is actually like a “movie” and God is the one who is watching. He also doesn’t like to watch comedy everyday or at different channel (people).

Sometimes, He might love some Korean sad love story or Hong Kong action movie. Therefore, every one must have to undergo sadness and sorrow unless you are vegetative.

Babies may feel sad when they have hungry or passed fearine (feaces + urine) in the pants. Children may feel sorrow when their toys are spoilt or their parents are away. Teenager might feel sad when they failed the exam or a broken relationship. Adult may feel sorrow when they have no job or a broken family. The elderly might feel sad when their love one passed away or their children don’t respect them.

Whenever God wants to watch your sad story, please don’t blame the God or give up, you should take a good rest, take a shower, shave your face (for men), change the hair style and start a new “movie”. Good Luck!

I admit I didn't write blog for a long long time already. Very lazy and busy. But please don't ask me what I am busy for. :)

This morning, while I was studying in my room, suddenly…

My adrenaline level suddenly boosted up.

I was in Fight condition of Fight-or flight response

Why?

I saw a man came and looked by my window.

I saw him, and he saw me.

Then, I quickly stood up and went to the living room.

He, again, asked whether we need grass-cutting-service.

I answered “NO!” loudly. (At that time, I really don’t know what to do. Catch him? Let him go? Scold him? Call a police?)

He began to switch the issue to “wall-painting”.

Again, I said “WHAT?!” and “NO!” loudly.

Then, Mark came out from his room.

He felt guilty and quickly ran by his motorbike.

I should copy his motorbike’s number.

But, never mind, if you come next time, I have a plan for you… Hehehe

I wonder whether Kuching people are so “friendly”, offer grass-cutting-service so frequently even though the grass is still short.

If want give a reason, give a new one la.

Don’t always grass-cutting.

Every time after the request for grass-cutting, the next midnight must have something happen.

Event 2: A lost of some pairs of sandals including my old, cheap, sandals

How to define roommate, friend, and stranger?

These are my own definition.
Roommate is someone who lives with you. (No other meaning, simple and precise)

Friend is someone who is good with you, can chat, eat, drink, and whatever with you, but at least you will have some conversation with him/her.

Stranger is someone who you don’t know, talk less with, or even no conversation.

Sometimes, thing happened in this world is very funny and unbelievable.

Let say, one day in class, you were not feeling well and decided to go home earlier. But then, you didn’t bring you bag. Will you call your roommate or your friend to help you to take it back? Dear reader, I am sure your answer should be roommate. Unless several conditions:
a) You are living alone.
b) Your roommate is a stranger.
c) Your roommate is very fierce.
d) You never talk with your roommate.
e) You just have a quarrel with your roommate.
f) Your roommate is smaller or weaker than your friend, so you don’t want to trouble him.
g) You and your roommate are not in the same class.
h) Your roommate will never go back to room.
i) You and your roommate are not living in the same room. (Very confused?)
j) The distance to your friend’s room is nearer than the place to your roommate’s room. (What the hell I am talking about?)
k) You don’t have your roommate’s phone number.
l) You failed to call your roommate-your roommate didn’t bring his/her hand phone, no battery, no line, is off.
m) You use 012 but your roommate is using 013/016/019, while your friend is using 012. Therefore, to save 10cents, you choose your friend.

Beside these, I don’t really know is there any possible reasons. Did I miss out any reason?

You may have a friend who is your roommate.
You may have a friend but not your roommate.
You may have a roommate who is your friend.
You may have a roommate but who is not your friend.
You may have a roommate but who is a stranger.
But, is there any friend who is a pair of stranger? Who know?

Therefore, if you have a roommate, try to identify which sentence is suitable for you and him/her.

- All males’ leather black shoes are missing except two pairs (not nice one).
- 4 ½ pairs of females’ formal shoes are missing.
- A pair of new, a pair of old NIKE sport shoes, two pairs of POWER sport shoes, and some sport shoes are missing.
- All sandals remain intact, except a pair.

That night, I slept early-girls slept at 3.00am-no suspicious sound-believed it happen in the early morning-don’t know whether this event related to the stranger or not-morning-woke up-shoes missing-boys have to wear remaining black shoes, or sport shoes, or sandals to lecture.

Treatment
That night, booked a car and went to Wisma Hoh Poh and Saberkas together and spent there on shoes. Drugs’ name : Hush Puppies, Kangaroo, Crocodile(why all animals’ name), Romani.

Complication
spent a lot of money, but have new shoes; light up throughout the night; expansive shoes are being put inside the house if not use; lock the room and house door everytime go out; adrenaline level increased

Small Story Big Moral…

“Erk…Hmm”, long long time ago, in a southern province of china, there were two friends – A and B. A is quite handsome but B is quite chubby.

A always hurts B by saying he is fat. (Don’t know whether he said it intentionally or unintentionally). But, B doesn’t like A said like that. (In fact, no one likes people call them fat). Therefore, in order to respect his friend, one day, B told A never calls him fat again. But, this action had made A annoyed. And A starts to speak less with B. When B is trying to speak with A, A will say that he should not speak with B.

The moral of the story are:
1. If you have done something wrong to a person, you should not apologize, however you should angry with that person. (like a Chinese proverb “e ren xian gao zhuang”)
2. If you don’t like some people doing/saying/speaking/craping something, you shouldn’t tell him directly/sincerely, even if he/she is your friend. On the contrary, you should keep/store/hide it in the deep place in your heart, at the same time, smile at him/her seem nothing happen.
3. “Ren shan bei ren qi, ma shan bei ren qi” - The fiercer always the more right.

I also have a story about him.

The story begins…

Last Friday, after my adventurous and scaring PBL discussion, and when I was decided to return back the model of eye which I borrowed, suddenly…

“Where is PBL seven?”, “Do you have any PBL seven group member’s number?” Dr. Abdul Karim said.

At that time, Shin Yi and I were stuck by these two questions.

Then I said I have.

The first person came into my mind is Mr.Bigcanon. Then I told him the number directly because it is available in my mind. After I told him, I felt a bit guilty. I just realized I shouldn’t tell him, because Mr.Bigcanon might unexpected.

Fortunately, he didn’t answer.

“No answer. Any others?” he said.

To prevent him feel like I am playing him, I quickly gave him another group member’s (Ee Hua) number who I know is in PBL seven. Another members like Romi, Yieng Ling, unfortunately, I don’t have their number.

Therefore, I hoped Ee Hua will answer the call.
If not, I don’t know what can happen.

Thank god, he answered finally with his monotone.

“I am Dr. Abdul Karim. Are you PBL seven group member?”
“Yes.”
“Just now what is going on”
“Dr. Rajalaxmy came and observe”

During 2006Chinese New Year(although it was a very long time already, but I insist to post this out), I went back to my grandmother's house for celebrating Chinese New Year. This is the second time I celebrated Chinese New Year at there. This is because I live at Johor and my grandmother is at Perak. It takes quite a long time to reach there. The first time was when I was working there as a part-time promoter.

The main difference between celebrating Chinese New Year at Johor and Perak is the atmosphere.

I am not saying that there is no Chinese New Year atmosphere at Johor, but it is different if compare with Perak.

This is because my relatives in Johor are lesser than those at Perak.

If I only count the children of my cousins(biao ge&biao jie) of my first aunt only,
it will give you a big surprise.

A story of a blue dustbin

21 January 1912 is a significant day for Prof Niki’. This is because after many years hard works and lab works on the mysterious species of BINs, he had created the 5th generation bin~ Gin’s Bin, or better called it as Chai_zhen’s Bin, Cz Bin.

Beside that, that day is also a very very very important day for me.

Wait a minute; I forgot to introduce myself.

I am exactly the 5th generation of Bin, Cz Bin. 100% pure.

I was once very popular in South East Asia. At that time, the people found out that I am very useful in many aspects:

- I can eat different kinds of thing(plastic bags, tissue papers, papers, sometimes used pens, and etc)
- I can eat quite a number of things(which the human named them as rubbish)
- I can eliminate the culprit(Prof Canon and Prof Daniel Chon were accused) I don't know oo, this is told by Prof Niki one.
- My name can appear on the faculty notice board, then in the Dean list, then in the magazine, in local dailies, in Reader’s Digest and Time Magazine. ~by Prof Canon
- I am quite small, cute, pretty.
- I am suitable to be put at the corridor or somewhere near the toilet.

I have to thank Prof Niki and Prof Canon for their effort and investigation that giving me so many abilities and functions.

One staff in FMHS, UNIMAS, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, South East Asia is also attracted by me.

And thus, he bought me and some of my clones and put us in different places in FMHS.

Some of my clones are very fortune, they can enjoy the air-con in the library.
Some of my clones are not that good, they have to withstand and try to survive in a small smelly toilet with billions or trillions of Staph. sp, Strep. sp, and some more Neisseria.

However, my luck is not too bad or even too good. I can only get the place near the toilet, but not inside the toilet.

There are only a few humans use the toilet at Level3. Sometimes, if I am quite boring, I will count the number of human using this toilet.

Everytime when the human is passing by me, I hope they can throw something for me to eat.

What I can get is a few pieces of tissue papers and sometimes with their plastic.

After I was fulled, the staff will take me to pass faeces to a big black plastic beg. My mouth can be used for two functions, eat and pass faeces; and my digestive system is very simple.

Until one day...

the staff heard his friends said that some rubbish (thing I eat) contain Non-Steroid Anti Inflammation Drugs(NSAID), which contain Cox I and Cox II inhibitors. Their side effects are anti-platelet, renal failure, and the most common is GASTRIC ULCER. This means that my stomach might be injured by these rubbish.

Therefore, he put a layer of protective membrane to line my stomach to reduce the possibility of getting ulcers.

The protective membrane is in my stomach. Haha! Don't envy!

I was quite happy with that membrane. The staff also labeled me with my name in a selofan tape. That is for him to recognise us better.

He did this thing secretly without telling others because he scared that Dean will scold him on taking these ridiculous actions.

But, "the paper cannot cover the fire", this strange thing had been discovered by someone.

He can't believe that a normal blue dustbin has its own name - Cz Bin.

Therefore, he did many investigations. photo

I think these terms are very familiar for the 1st year medical students in UNIMAS, and almost can say, they are at the tips of our fingers. Suddenly, an idea appeared in my mind. How can I relate these terms with my blog.

where my happy heart goes? Part2

After I read this post at Life is once!!, a desire to write the part 2 of this post is suddenly filled my heart and brain. Although I haven't got the consent from the 1st author; although this block-musculoskeletal is quite tough; and although the quiz is just around the corner, I still have to give my opinion before I start studying.

I still remember the life when I was studying in Johore Matriculation College...

Initially, we were still not too closed, and our relationship is just at the "hi friends" level. At that time, I missed my life in Form 5 very very much even till today. Although my class in Form 5 only had 10 Chinese, 9 boys (1 in memory) and 1 girl, our relationship is like "aur dengan tebing", that means very close. But after a few months in Matriculation, although there were many small small and big big quarrels among ourselves, I started thinking in a special way. I am not sure whether the others are thinking same as me. In my mind, I think that, we can gather from different parts of the country to study in the same college, is not an easy job for God. So I started to appreciate this opportunity given by God. I can feel the others also had the same view as me, especially when we were in the end of the course. We became more tolerant and understand each others well.

Of course, we have our own small groups in Matriculation. I am in a group of 7 boys. But later, some girls came in, and our number of member increased to 10. 10 people, is neither a small number, nor a big number. The quarrels are the thing we could not prevent. But when it occurred, we won't be upset, afraid or even angry, because we were sure that we will become good friends back soon. 1 week, 5 days, 3 days, 1 day, 1 hour, or even 1 hour until I made a joke-"You have made me angry, I refuse to talk with you in 1 minute period". Haha... I know that some people may feel that I am crazy, but I think this is the best alternative way to solve all the quarrels, because the hope is still there.

My journey of studying continues, and we had to be separated into different University, due to different courses. And I almost lost my contacts with them.

A new life began, and I have to set my mind to continue the journey with a happy heart and enjoy the new life. This is because entering the medical school is my dream and my decision during the application. However, I feel that it is quite difficult to stay with a group of clever people. My happy heart is gradually disappeared like what described in "where my happy heart goes?"

I have lost my always-smiling face. At past, I even imagined I am the angle of joy, who will bring the joy, laugh, and happiness to the people surrounding me, that is why my email is luv_joy_peace86@yahoo.com. Three important angles - love, joy, and peace. From the Dean's lecture in Cognitive Neuroscience, I know that laugh is the best medicine, and it can increase the level of endorphin in our brain, to make our brain fresh. I know my life now is harmful and I hope there is a change soon. I hope I can enjoy my University life. And I hope I won't gain nothing after 5 years in university. I hope others to respect on me and hopefully I will respect on them.

This is quite a sad post, I do not specify anyone. But I think I felt better after I wrote it out as I know medical life is busy, rushing, and no people have time to hear from me. No other purpose except for untying the knot in my heart. Okay, I have to study already.

25/12/2005 Sunday Raining

Today, when I woke up, it was already 11.00am. I planned to go to church this morning to celebrate Christmas but failed. The church started at 8.30am. Hai...(sigh),no Christmas present for this year.

My initial plan is after church, I have to go to the St. Joseph Cathedral to push back Mark’s punctured motorbike which I borrowed it during silence night. But then, Mr. Beh told me Nicholas will be arrived at Kuching airport at 1.25pm. Then, we decided to rent Guard’s Kancil and drop me at St. Joseph Cathedral to push back the motorbike.

After that, I pushed the motorbike alone from St. Joseph Cathedral to Hung Hung Inn, while Mr. Beh went to fetch Nicholas and his girl friend. Along the way, the passerby looked at me as an alien and I felt very very very ashamed. At that time, I could only pray the earth would open up and swallow me. Near the St. Joseph Cathedral, there is a very steep slope; I had to push the motorbike up hardly. I had to wait until the traffic light turned to red to cross the busy road. I pray there is an alternative way for me because I was very tired and my arms were very painful. However, God abandoned me. Today is Christmas day, the shops are closed today. While everyone was celebrating Christmas joyfully, I was pushing the stupid, heavy motorbike. So pity! At that time, if you ask me what present I want for my Christmas, I would definitely say “a tayar.” I cried out, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani!” But the last word changed in my mouth, from my dreadful hypnotic grief and pain, to a scream of simply infernal terror. After I reached the Sarawak General Hospital, I could only use one word to describe myself – exhausted. Perspiration and rain drops slipped in between fibers and cottons on my newly bought Giordano T-shirt. The humidity of the surrounding air restricted the rate of evaporation of my perspiration, making me as wet as ocean. There was a saying “God will make a way, when there seems to be no way…” When I saw the motorcycle shop just beside Hung Hung Inn, I felt like seeing a heaven on the earth. However, the shop is closed. I decided to lock the motorbike there and repair it tomorrow after the shop opened. I was tired and thirsty, so I went to Hung Hung Inn to have some drinks.

After that, Mr. Beh, Nicholas and his girl friend came and we went to eat together. We found that “Siang Siang Fang” (food centre) is closed. Nicholas suggested us to eat KFC, because he remembered he saw in television, KFC is opened for 365 days.

In the evening, I was busy cleaning the house compound because there was a Christmas celebration at night. I arranged the shoes and the tables and chairs with Mr. Beh, and Nicholas. I even bought the colorful lights to hang on the tree in our dining room. After 7.00pm, my course mates came to my house and the house became crowded and merry. There were 14 peoples busy preparing for tonight BBQ. Sharon, Chee Siong, Syang, Chia, Yee Shang, Shin Yi, Chiu, Romi, Hung Xin, Gin, M.C, Mr. Beh, Nicholas, and me. Our house was warm although it was raining. Some were busy frying Mee Hoon and French Fries, while others were trying to light the fire for BBQ. Then, we ate and talked in a harmony environment, surrounded by many nice Christmas songs. Special thanks to a very special guest for his nonsense and contribution. What is his contribution? When we are decided to play some games, he is the one who made the environment became serious. We wasted one hour and forgot to drink our red wine too. Thanks ya! Drinking is prohibited before driving, Syang :P.

After we cleaned the house together, they went back to hostel and houses respectively. I would like to use this opportunity to thank all the guests for coming and cheering me up in my Christmas day. 2005 Christmas is the special one and I won’t forget it in the future!!!

This afternoon, when I was coming back from THE STATION SHOP , just in front of my faculty, after having my lunch, I encountered in this funny event.

After I opened the door...

VERN JUN : Gan, come quickly, we have a question for you.

I thought it must be a very very very important thing. (this time is only three "very", so it is less severe compared to the below one)

VERN JUN : If the chicken in this world died and all the chicken eggs are damaged, and you have the ability to create one thing, you will create chicken or egg?

GAN : How many chicken/eggs can I create? If only one, I will choose egg, because if only one chicken, it can do nothing.

VERN JUN : If you can either create 1 cock and 1 hen, or only the egg, which one will you choose?

NICHOLAS : The egg can hatch by itself.

VERN JUN : Ok ok, which one will you choose?

GAN : Do you mean that the world has egg first or chicken first?

VERN JUN : Yes.

GAN : Emm... I will say the chicken first, this is because THE GOD create animals first, not eggs.

VERN JUN : Is it okay, if we say the eggs come from evolution of other animals.

NICHOLAS : Egg is the primitive state of any animal.

GAN : No, egg is the product of sexual reproduction, won't be the primitive one.

VERN JUN : I think the world starts with a unicell, then it multiplied, multiplied, multiplied and became a chicken, not egg.

NICHOLAS : I think the chicken egg maybe comes from the evolution of any other animals' egg.

GAN : Do you mean that the chicken egg came from the mutated snake's egg?

NICHOLAS : Maybe la.

Before I write something on this post, I would like to appologize because you have to wait me to write post for a long time. This is because a very, very, very, very, very complicated story. I will tell you next time. I already said five times "very", so you can know the severity...

But now, the most important thing is...

For those who live in the hostel of FMHS in UNIMAS, surely you will know.

YES, you are right! This was the room number in hostel for this following SPECIAL person...

Do you know who is he?

He is the BUS UNIMAS, which KILL a girl...

Don't misconcept, he played the role of BUS UNIMAS during the drama, do you still remember???

He told me this room number has a very special meaning for him, although he moved out already.

He said the number on the door also is his birthday date.

Hai,(sigh) actually we want to pretend that we had forgotten his birthday, so that we don't have to spend for his present and celebration. But, now cannot already... Shy...don't tell him...

Happy Belated Kemerdekaan...

As you know, our independent day is on 31st August every year.

One day, when I was talking with a ~~girl~~ friend by phone, we talked about the activity in our own faculty. I told her that our faculty will celebrate Hari Kemerdekaan on 17th September this year. She was so surprised and wondered why. I also don't know why. I asked around and finally I found a very good answer.

"Independent day is not only for 31st August, it should be in our mind every day, every year." (quote from Suhaimi's speech during the opening ceremony)

Therefore we can celebrate Independent Day whenever we want as long as its meaning is still there.

"Erk hem!"(cough) After showing my patriotism, now I share some of the photos that we had taken that day. If you want more photos and movies, please wait Nicholas to burn the DVD. Haha!

Below are looked-very-delicious dishes. Wah, also very professional! Can't believed medical students can do it! Emm~yummy!

This was the champion of cooking competition (men).

Very professional ~~but stingy~~ dishes

Here, I would like to highlight a dish.

Ladies and Gentlemen, a very traditional mee goreng and jelly.

This is my apartment's.

I wondered why these dishes cannot be the champion in this competition. Can you tell me any other dishes which are more tradition? The answer is no! As you know, mee goreng is the most competitive dish in Malaysia. When you go to any mamak stall, you can easily order mee goreng. Then, why it cannot get any prize in this competition? Hai... never mind la, we must bear in mind that the purpose of this competition is to build up the relationship among the students and also the patriotism.

Let me tell you a secret, and you don't tell the authority. Actually, we bought the mee goreng and the jelly from the mamak stall then we participated in this competition with them.
This doesn't mean that we intentionally refuse to cook. We don't have the cooker and even the rice cooker, then how can we cook? But the pengetua kolej insisted every apartment must participate in this competition, so we just bought it. Nicholas, am I right?

Lastly, MALAYSIA, HAPPY BELATED KEMERDEKAAN!!!

All of us have our 1st time in our life. This is the 1st time I post my 1st thought in my 1st blog in my 1st year in UNIMAS. You might wonder why I create this blog. I got the inspiration from my colleagues in Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of UNIMAS.

When I was in my secondary school and even matriculation, I have no computer literated friend, but I found it right HERE, UNIMAS. Who said medical students cannot excel in other fields? I strongly disagree with him. Some computers experts in UNIMAS are NiCoLa Corp, Mr. Big Canon, Pirated Syang…

After blabbing for long, it seems like I am writing an essay rather than a blog. Come on man, don’t be too serious!!! Relax, have some fun!!! Do you know what it meant by “SOT SOT DE” and why I put it as my blog name after a long thought? Ok, “SOT SOT DE” means crazy or there are some problems in your brain or some “wayars” in your nervous system are blocked. Actually this is my pet phrase. I usually use it to treat somebody when he/she has done/said something irrational ~~esp. Mr. Big Canon~~

I use it as my blog name because I think that the action that I’ve created a blog is irrational and unexpected, so I claimed it as “SOT SOT DE” lo!!!
